S-L-O-W-E-D DOWN
The Judy Dworin Performance Project's Moving Matters! Residency Program presents a performance of "S-L-O-W-E-D DOWN." The performance is a culmination of a semester long project by the students from Trinity College's Education Through Movement course, more than 250 students from the Parkville Elementary Community School and the Montessori Magnet School, as well as the Teaching Artists from JDPP. This performance will feature joyous dancing, painted T-shirts created by the students, giant set pieces created and designed by Cheri Soule and music by Sirius Coyote. "S-L-O-W-E-D DOWN," is an original story, written by Judy Dworin and illustrated by Cheri Soule.

"Developing a 'Clinical Eye' - Physiologic Foundations for Music Therapy," Dorita Berger, Montclair State University
Because humans are primarily emotionally intuitive animals whose responses derive instinctively from the brain`s interpretation of sensory information, music can influence responses on a sub-cortical level, influencing sensory information processing systems to alter homeostatic set points. In assessing behaviors through physiologic-information lenses and knowledge, the therapist’s ”clinical eye” can observe important physiologic information to develop clinical goals for functional adaptation in any diagnosis.

TINA NIKOLOVA
"Frenzy for Two, or More" by Eugene Ionesco.
The noise outside gets louder: the shouting and gunfire that could be heard vaguely in the distance have got nearer, and now come beneath the window. HE, on the point of reacting violently to her insults, suddenly stops, and so does SHE. Featuring a massacre of 72 plastic Barbie dolls.

LIZ SHARPE
Liz Sharpe's Senior Thesis, entitled "The Other Side of the Fence" is an exploration of the idea that we always want what we do not have, using the theories and techniques of the performance artist and composer Meredith Monk. Sharpe compares the desire for adventure and freedom to the desire for safety, security, and material possessions. The piece uses mainly sound and movement to depict the story of two characters who each long to live the life of the other.

The Judy Dworin Performance Project presents TIME IN
Dance Benefit and Symposium
TIME IN is an eye-opening and moving multi-arts performance piece integrating dance, music, and text to explore time as experienced by women inside a maximum-security prison. The piece was created by JDPE and a capella gospel singers, Women of the Cross (WOTC) as the culmination of a year-long residency at York Correctional Institution in Niantic, CT. Acclaimed author Wally Lamb will give opening remarks and will precede the performance at 6:30 p.m. with a book signing of his latest edited collection of writings "I'll Fly Away: Further Testimonies of the Women of York Prison."

There will be a symposium held earlier that day in the Mather Campus Center from 1-5 p.m. - Building Bridges IV: Women, Prison, and the Arts.
Tickets for TIME IN are $20 general, $10 students. A donation of $100 or more includes a reserved seat and a signed copy of "I'll Fly Away." All proceeds will benefit a special fund for college courses for the women at York CI and Interval House, service provider for abused women and children. This is a piece of documentary theatre, and the truth about mothers and motherhood. Through interviews, song and research, it is an exploration of our parents, our connection to them and the different relationships that arise all around us. Working with over a years worth of one hundred personal interviews from all across America, it is evident that each person has a different relationship or intense memory with his or her mother and that is just what this forty minute production will portray.

War is raging: a city under siege. A family is stuck in their apartment: the television not working any more. War becomes entertainment and denial a way of life. As the situation worsens and threatens to overrun them, the family’s belief in the infallibility of their government becomes harder to maintain. This absurdist farce by Jean-Claude Grumberg provides a dark but telling glimpse into humanity’s ability to ignore the reality of what happens when social institutions break down.
